On December 23, the Organization Department of Guangzhou Municipal Committee and Guangzhou Association for Science & Technology jointly convened the 2019 Work Conference on Construction of Guangzhou Academician Expert Workstation. Zeng Xueling, Director of the Talent Affairs Office of the Organization Department of Guangzhou Municipal Committee, Dai Xiaochun, Member of the Leading Party Group and Secretary General of Guangzhou Association for Science & Technology, Zhang Zhengjun, Director of the Innovation and Exchange Center of Guangzhou Association for Science & Technology, Kang Shiwei, Deputy Director of the Innovation and Exchange Center of Guangzhou Association for Science & Technology, and other leaders attended the conference.

At this conference, the list of the first batch of eligible academician expert workstations in Guangzhou was released, and the requirements for promoting the work during the station construction was defined. In addition, the awarding ceremony of academician expert workstations was held. Guangzhou Risong Technology Co., Ltd. was invited to participate in the conference as an approved unit eligible for academician expert workstation, marking the formal establishment of Risong Technology's Academician Expert Workstation.

The academician expert workstation is an important measure proposed by China Association for Science and Technology. By centering on improving independent innovation capability and creating an innovative country, the academician expert workstation is established to execute the strategy of strengthening China with talents. The academician expert workstation is an effective way to organize and mobilize the vast number of scientific and technological workers to serve the grassroots and enterprises. It is also a good idea and a good form to promote the combination of production, education and research. It is important for the implementation of the National Program for Medium and Long-term Talent Development (2010-2020). With its organizational characteristics and advantages, the academician expert workstation enables the implementation of the policy for cultivating innovative talents through production, education and research cooperation, and boosts the combination of production, education and research. At the academician expert workstation, high-level and innovative talents could be gathered and trained in practice. Therefore, it is significant for building a grand team of innovative scientific and technological talents. Moreover, the academician expert workstation is a pioneering work of serving the economic and social development and the technological innovation of enterprises.

General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly put forward in the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China that "We should further develop the reform of the scientific and technological system, establish an enterprise-based and market-oriented technological innovation system that deeply integrates production, education and research. We should provide more supports for the innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises, and promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements".

Risong Technology's Academician Expert Workstation will focus on "in-depth integration of production, education and research" and optimal allocation of innovative resources, so as to further enhance the innovation capability and market competitiveness of Risong Technology. After such a workstation is established, it is possible to greatly increase the transformation of Risong Technology achievements in production, education and research, which will strongly drive the development of intelligent manufacturing industry.

Under the guidance of Academician Chen Xiaoqi and his team, Risong Technology's Academician Expert Workstation will develop a technological development strategy and industry plan for Risong Technology. It will not only tackle key technical problems encountered in the robot and intelligent manufacturing business operated by Risong Technology, but also realize industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, including application development and industrialization of laser vision sensors, application and popularization of multi-information monitoring system for robot welding process, etc. At the same time, Academician Chen Xiaoqi and his team will cooperate with Risong Technology to train innovative R&D talents.

Brief Introduction to Academician Chen Xiaoqi

He is also the Academician of New Zealand Academy of Engineering. He is currently engaged in research on complex manufacturing automation systems and intelligent control, mobile robots, and bio-electromechanical integration. He presided over 11 projects as the project leader successively and published more than 200 papers. He was granted the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award by the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology of New Zealand (for application of patented wall-climbing robot technology, 2012) and the National Technology Award of Singapore (for the world's first 3D grinding automation system for turbine blades of aircraft engines, which is the highest honor in the scientific and technological circles of Singapore, 1999). He was the first President of New Zealand–China Association for Science and Technology Robots and the founder of New Zealand Robotics and Automation Division of IEEE.
